Crafting Simple Furniture During the COVI 19 Lockdown
During the lockdown, I found a unique way to channel my creativity by making simple furniture from my own garden. With minimal tools and reclaimed pallets sourced from the city, I transformed everyday materials into functional pieces.
My partner played a crucial role by uploading photos of the finished items to Wallapop. It was exciting to see the response people either came to collect the furniture or we arranged deliveries right to their doorsteps. This experience not only kept me busy during a challenging time but also allowed me to connect with the community.
Creating these pieces reinforced my belief in the value of sustainable practices and resourcefulness. It was rewarding to see others appreciate the work and creativity that went into each item, and I loved being able to provide something useful during a time when so many were at home.
One day the owner of a nursery in LLeida reached out to me to create a variety of custom-made toys for her students, and I was thrilled to take on the challenge. Even though I had never been to Lleida, I was eager to design toys that would engage and inspire young children. The goal was to produce high-quality, safe, and durable toys that would enhance their learning and play experience. In preparation, I focused on researching materials and designs that would appeal to both the children and the nursery’s aesthetic. I aimed to create colorful and imaginative pieces that would foster creativity and exploration. When it came time to deliver the toys, it was rewarding to see them in the hands of the children. The feedback from the nursery staff was incredibly positive, highlighting how much the kids enjoyed the new items in their play area.
This project not only marked a significant step in my business but also reinforced the importance of creating products that bring joy and value to educational settings.2
I look forward to more opportunities like this in the future!
